Deana Kolencikova is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily with public space and urbanism, commenting on the socio-politics of everyday life. As an artist she rejects the art market and believes in poetic, educational and activist purposes of contemporary art. She has participated at festivals, and has lived, exhibited, lead workshops and completed numerous art residencies across various countries in Europe and Asia. With the help of these experiences she uses her receptivity to work with cultural nuances and translates them into pieces often inspired by humour and absurdism. In Prague she organised a series of dining performances dealing with the politics of food, and has more recently lead community sessions on mental health in Arles.
